38 Weeks

Wow, I haven't blogged in a while!

Things have been pretty crazy the last couple of weeks with moving, and I'm just now beginning to feel a bit settled. We took all of last week to move our stuff to my parents' house. It was exhausting! David did almost all of the moving himself. We had help from our home teacher and another brother from the ward, as well as my dad. I helped as much as I could, but I am so big, tired, and delicate these days that I really couldn't do much.

I am slowly getting things ready for Jackson. His nursery is put together enough that when he comes it will be functional, but there is still work to be done for it to look the way I'd like it to.

The rest of our stuff is scattered all over the place and we haven't made time yet to organize it and put it away so our space is more functional. Unfortunately I have to get help to get all of that done, otherwise I would just do it myself. Oh well, it will get done eventually.

David started working at Target yesterday! He likes it so far.

I had a doctor appointment on Monday. They did a non-stress test and a cervical exam. I am 2.5cm dilated and 80% effaced! I had been having cramps and lots of Braxton Hicks contractions all weekend, so I was pleased to hear that it wasn't in vain! Hopefully baby can wait a few more days until Steph comes home :-) Or at least until Sunday so he can have an April birthday! We will see!

This last week was crazy-- but in a semi-good way.

We got our tax return on Wednesday, so we FINALLY had the financial freedom to go out and buy some things for our baby! I can't even BEGIN to tell you how good it felt!! It is crazy how much relief it brings to this nesting mama to have a nursery in the works and to have the basic necessities in place for when baby Jackson joins our family.

Not only did we get our tax return, but David landed a job at Target! It is not his life ambition to work at Target, and it does absolutely nothing to further his career, but it will be a paycheck, which is something that we haven't seen in many months. It will be good for him to get out and work. He will continue to develop the game that he has been working on as well, since I doubt that Target will schedule him for 40 hours a week.

We have been moving slowly, and tomorrow we are moving furniture. We have until Saturday to move out completely, so if we don't get all the small stuff moved tomorrow then we have the rest of the week to finish. We also need to scrub everything clean.

34 Weeks!

David is so excited to meet our baby. He tells me multiple times daily about how much he loves our little guy. He talks to my belly at least twice a day to say good morning and good night, if not more, just because! He also puts words into baby's mouth for him, and tells me how he imagines our baby is positioned in the womb or how he reacts to some of our interactions.

33 Weeks!

Yay for the Texas government and the Texas Workforce Commission! Justice has been served! We got a phone call a couple of days ago informing us that we will be getting David's wages that his employer was refusing to pay him! They gave us the impression that we would be seeing those wages within a month. Hallelujah! That will make getting by until other employment comes through MUCH easier!

The job search continues. There are a few prospects, but we are still playing the waiting game. Hopefully we will know something within the next two weeks? I feel like I've been saying that for the last month! At least there are people that are interested in David's skills!

We finally set up the crib! It feels SOOO good to finally have a place to bring our baby! We had been postponing assembling the crib because we were not sure if we would need to move in with my parents or not. Since the baby's guess date is only 7 weeks away, we figured that we are close enough to his arrival that it is pretty safe to assume that we'll be living with my parents when he is born.

Even if David gets a job (locally) we plan to live with my parents until the baby is at least a month old. Adjusting to a new baby is hard enough (so I hear) and we don't want to stress ourselves out by trying to move too soon afterwards. We are hoping that the stay is as short-term as possible though. We can pray!

Here is my ever-expanding body. I have been noticing stretch marks all over in the last week. I made it so long without any! I'm not too worried about them though, especially since I've still got a while to go and I'm sure that they'll only multiply...

I like to play with baby. He pushes on my belly, I push his foot back down, and he pushes back somewhere else. I push his foot (or elbow, or knee, or hand) back down and it pops back up somewhere else. It's like that whack-a-mole game you see at arcades. It's definitely David's child if he's already playing games... hehe David would be so proud!

32 Weeks!

Ah! 32! Baby will be here so soon!

Since no jobs have come through yet, the plan is to move in with my parents when our lease ends in March. I will be 37 weeks pregnant at that point! I am trying to get things packed up early so that it won't be as stressful. Luckily we are only moving 10 minutes away.

We are still waiting to hear from the company in New York. We are not holding our breath at this point. They are taking so long that we don't expect to hear good news when they finally contact us. But, we're not officially out of the running yet.
