Oh, just wait until....

I am realizing that the world is full of people who are anxiously awaiting to tell/remind you that life will only get harder (and worse) as you get older, as if I haven't been told that my whole life.

When it comes to parenting, I'm learning to just keep my mouth shut, because people love to tell you how much worse it will be in the future. For heaven's sake, can you just have some sympathy? Why kick someone when they're down? Just say, "I know sweetie, everything will be fine." I sure hope I remember this feeling and that I never give in to the temptation to discourage a new (or soon-to-be) parent just because they haven't been there yet!

Maybe it is because I am an optimist by practice, but I prefer not to look at life that way. I prefer to tell/remind people how much BETTER life gets as you get older! It does not mean that life gets EASIER, by any means, but definitely better!

Not to mention that you NEVER know the whole story, that there is most likely something else going on in their life that you don't know about.

Here's to a healthy dose of optimism!
